Midwest Photo robbed again as a truck crashes into the store
According to the police, the incident took place just after 4:40 a.m. on Friday. They didn’t say how many suspects were involved in the incident, but they claim that the work truck that smashed through the front door was stolen. Midwest Photo owner referred to the robbery as “smash and grab.” However, the business still has to figure out what exactly was stolen. But even if it was nothing, the damage to the store is huge. Thankfully, no injuries were reported as the store was empty at the time of the robbery.
“We don’t want to focus on the damage done, but rather on our staff who we love so much who were able to pull this place back together to allow us to open this weekend without a hitch,” Midwest Photo wrote in a statement on Facebook. “We have been utterly overwhelmed at the outpouring of love the photo community has shown us over the past few days, and it’s been the power that has driven us forward from this to continue to serve Columbus.”
As I mentioned, this isn’t the first time the business was robbed. It also happened in 2017, when it was suspected that the robbery was a part of a larger crime wave going throughout the Midwest at the time. Just like then – if you see any gear deals that are too good to be true, on unauthorized photo websites, contact Midwest Photo or notify the Columbus Division of Police.
