It’s Hasselblad’s 80th birthday this year and to celebrate they’re releasing a limited 907X Anniversary Edition Kit, comprising the Hasselblad 907X camera withCFV II 50C 50-megapixel digital back, control grip, optical viewfinder and the XCD 30mm f/3.5 lens.

Limited to just 800 kits, the new 907X Anniversary Edition Kit will cost you just over fifteen grand in the USA and commemorates 80 years since the launch of Hasselblad’s first camera, the Hasselblad HK-7 back in 1941.

Hasselblad’s come a long way over the last 80 years from its early beginnings to having the status it has now. Hasselblad says that the 907X Anniversary Edition Kit draws inspiration from the iconic SWC camera and features anodised Lunar Grey time and lens with a black leatherette cover – a classic and classy look.

The 907X comes with Hasselblad’s CFV II 50C back, which features a 50-megapixel 43.8 x 32.9mm medium format sensor providing 16-bit raw images with a dynamic range of up to 14 stops and a native ISO range of 100-25,600. IT also has a 2.36m-dot 3.2″ tilting touchscreen, dual SD card slots and Type-C USB charging.

Yes, you can shoot video with this camera, but despite having a high 50-megapixel resolution for stills, video resolution caps out at a somewhat limited 2.7K (2720 x 1530) or 1080p HD. You do get a full sensor width readout with a 16:9 crop, though, so the quality should be excellent and you’ll still get that shallow depth of field that medium format is famous for.

The camera comes with the Hasselblad XCD 30mm f/3.5 lens, which provides a pretty wide 71° horizontal field of view on a sensor this size. It weighs 581g, has a filter diameter of 77mm and a minimum focus distance of only 40cm. 11 elements in 10 groups including one aspherical element provide the sort of quality we’ve come to expect from a company like Hasselblad. Hasselblad says this lens was chosen to “echo the Biogon 38mm wide-angle lens used in the SWC”.

It also comes with the control grip for easier handling and an optical viewfinder for when you get sick of staring at an LCD.

The Hasselblad 907x Anniversary Edition Kit is available to pre-order now for $15,100 from the Hasselblad Website. Prices within Europe and the UK are €15,500 and £13,900 respectively, inclusive of VAT.
