The Comedy Pet Photo Awards is one of those contests that always puts a smile on my face. It has just published the images and videos shortlisted for this year and they are absolutely hilarious. If you’re thinking about whether or not you should have a pet… Well, I think these will push you towards adopting one. Or five.

The folks behind this great contest are Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam. They made it to celebrate the positive and vital role that pets can have in our lives. But also, they aim to encourage and raise awareness about animal welfare in general by supporting a different grassroots charity each year.  Thanks to its partnership with Animals Friends Insurance, this year the competition will be donating £10,000 to Animal Support Angels a very special animal welfare charity that supports pets and pet owners by providing food, shelter, warmth, veterinary support, re-homing, and animal welfare care to relieve the suffering of animals.

This year, over 2,000 entries were submitted to the competition from all over the world. The judges have chosen 40 shortlisted photos and three videos, and the Category and Overall Winners will be announced in November. The top image will win a £2,000 cash prize, a goodie bag, and a trophy.

So, until we see the winners (I can’t wait), let’s take a look at some of the shortlists. I’ve chosen some of my favorites. Some of them actually made me laugh out loud, and I hope they’ll do the same for you. And of course, if you have a funny pet photo to share, feel free to do so. There can never be enough funny animal photos, right? :)
